Income Streams
The days of working just one job, just having the one source of income has hit the road of broken dreams.
That way of thinking is no longer the valid, the working environment has changed forever and the only notice people are being given of this change is a piece of paper saying ‘good by’ and someone telling you that, ‘you have 5 minutes to grab your stuff’.
If you were told a year in advance that you were no longer going to be employed for whatever reason, would you just have waited the year out doing nothing and hoped for the best?
No, you would have fought back at the situation; you would have done what you need to do to get another job or the education or another form of income to replace that which you were losing.
For the most part, getting told a year in advance of an impending job loss is a fairy tale. This situation might not be the case for you but, the danger to people with single sourced income still exists.
You need to diversify your personal single source Income, into income streams from different sources. The working environment has changed and you must change with it. Now the question is how?
Think about what you already know how to do, leverage it, put the pieces together, take a class in something you like, get some reading material on subjects you like.
Some of you might be saying that you’re going to wait till you find your niche and then you’ll make the change. What if finding your niche takes a while?
Finding Your Niche
‘As soon as I find my niche, I’m so out of this place, just watch me go!’ Have you heard this thought from one of your friends or perhaps even you have said this?
Many people view this word with mysterious reverence and liken it to finding the proverbial ‘needle in the haystack’ and that when they find it, wow, watch out world. It may be a shock to you but, you might be already carrying the proverbial needle around with you.
One of the definition’s of niche as defined by merriam-webster.com is: “a place, employment, status, or activity for which a person or thing is best fitted, a specialized market”.
I hear you, for I too thought for sure it would say ‘commonly found in haystacks’ when I looked it up. I suggest that while you’re waiting for your niche, you use this time to clone what is working for other people who have already found their niche, their ‘needle in the haystack’.
You see, they’re already working in their specialized market, their niche, and making money and you can as well. As an example, look at how many people are selling the same things on EBay.
Have you ever told yourself ‘You know, I could see myself doing this or that’ after seeing it on the television or when you were out somewhere? Is it something you could do in your spare time? Is it something that you can allot say 15 minutes a day to get it going?
Start off by trying to create small streams of income and see how you like the idea. It is my sincere wish that you do find your own personal niche one day, for wouldn’t that be a great day!
